CCMTB XC Round 1
February 9 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Did you get a new bike over Christmas? Do you have a bike collecting dust in the garage? Is this the year you said you were going to get out and involved in some awesome club racing? Or have you been training your butt off during the summer waiting eagerly for this moment?
What ever the reason or motivation this is for you! The CCMTB club XC series is worth giving a try and committing to. You get to meet and ride with some of the nicest and best races in the region. You get to compete against riders who travel hours from all over Sydney and beyond to be a part of the fun.
If you are a MTBA Central Coast member you are eligible for prizes and club awards (you can be a member of more than one club*). Are you going to be crowned CCMTB club champion in 2020? Why shouldn’t it be you?
Division break downs:
A grade: Guys and girls that take their racing and training seriously. We are lucky to have some of the best MTB riders in the country that come and race at Ourimbah. These people do the most laps and are generally the fastest. If you really want to test yourself and get the best value for money (the most laps) then join in A grade this year.
B grade: There usually isn’t a whole lot of difference between the best B grade riders and A grade other than A graders are a few kmph faster and usually a few years younger (but not always!). B grade is right for you if you are really into riding and get out there at least a few times a week. It’s also for you if you are a keen older rider or a younger person wanting to move on up from C grade. B grade is usually 1 lap less than A grade.
C grade: Do you like beer? Do you find getting out of bed too challenging most mornings to go for a ride? Were you a shining light a few years ago, but now more of a glow? Are you way more awesome than all the people at home to lazy to come out for a XC race? If you answered 0 or more to any of these questions than C grade is for you.
C grade is usually 1 or 2 laps depending on the length of the loop. It’s still a challenge and its also very competitive so don’t think for a moment it isn’t an achievement to race in this division.
Younger riders who are just starting to get into racing will find this a good place to start too.
We have been lucky enough to get more women races coming to our events. The girls are very supportive of each other and love the challenge of racing. If you would like to join in we assure you that you will be welcomed with open arms.
We hold many divisions for children, under 15s, under 13s, under 11s. Parent/s can ride the track with their child free of charge. We are also working on having children only races in 2020 too.
Now to the racing: We will be inspecting the track after its been in lockdown for ages. The track will be groomed and well signposted for the race. Details of the course will be posted closer to the date.
Online registration will also be posted soon, so please register online once its up.
We continued to get a lot of walk ins in 2019 and that is OK! But it makes it much easier for the volunteers (we are all volunteers) if you register a few days before the race.
Registration (on the day) will be open from 7:30am and racing starts at 8:15am for all grades.
Don’t let another year pass without being involved with our XC racing. It’s worth the effort!
You need a MTBA race license to race. Day licences can be purchased through MTBA. You should buy a yearly race license if you plan on going to more than 1 race anywhere in Australia this year. It’s also insurance for anytime you are on a bicycle, so check it out. Make sure you put CCMTB as your home club. Check out the options for duel club if you want to be a member of more than one club.
Children (under 18) $10
All money goes to the club which is used for trail upgrades etc. So racing with us is a way you contribute to the ever improving trails at Ourimbah.
